Story
James Caplin died at sea in the Bay of Biscay, he was 17 years old. He was a Mess Room Steward aboard the S.S. "Heatherside" (Newcastle).His ship was sunk by U-Boat, Bay of Biscay, North-West of Cape Ortegal. It was carrying coal to Malta. Born in Poole, by 1911 he was living with his parents Joseph and Rose Ellen Caplin in Swansea.
