Story
Charles Cutler died in France aged 22 years. Born in Poole he was educated at the National School. Son of Emma E. Cutler of 76 Perry Gardens, Poole and the late Charles E. Cutler. In 1911 he was a "tile fixer"s labourer" living with his mother and her other children at Lagland St (76 Perry Gardens).

He joined the Middlesex Regiment on 24th March 1916 and served with the Expeditionary Force in Frances and Flanders from 30th November [...] killed in action at Fontaine-le-Croiselles 16th May 1917, being hit by a sniper whilst on a bombing raid. Buried at Cojeul, east of Henin.' His commanding officer wrote: <blockquote> I was very glad to be able to get his body brought in, and he was carried down to a British cemetary by two of his comrades, which was a very fine piece of work on their part, as they had to carry him a long way.
